Service Description
This class teaches the basic skills of first aid and prepares the students to provide initial assistance to victims of a wide range of trauma, medical, and environmental emergencies. The curriculum includes instructions on identifying the problem, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and assisting a patient with the use of epi-pens and inhalers. The program also incorporates bleeding control using the “Stop the Bleed” curriculum developed by the American College of Surgeons. Although this is not a full first aid certification course students will receive a certificate of completion for the Stop the Bleed program. (Students requiring AHA First Aid certification should enroll in our Heartsaver or Pediatric First Aid class.) Class run time is approximately two hours. If the class is fully booked, please email CPR@cvfrs.org to be placed on a waitlist.
